India has upgraded its leave policy for 2021 to make it more inclusive. The organization has introduced new categories under which employees can take leave.

There is now an option for:
wellness
leave for holistic well-being - this includes sick days, mental health leave, period leaves, etc. Employees are eligible for 12 days of wellness leave every calendar year. There is also impact leave where employees can apply for one day of leave to engage in any volunteering activity of their choice that creates a positive impact on the community.

The firm has also rolled out an option where employees can work from home for five days due to pet adoption. Additionally, to support employees during difficult times of personal loss, the bereavement leave has been extended to 10 days and this extends to pets as well.

“We have also given employees the option to enjoy a workstation of 10 working days in a year. This allows people to explore new cultures and travel to new places in the country while working through the day, and also gives our people an opportunity to work from different WeWork locations or buildings,” Priti Shetty, head of people at WeWork India, told ET.

The organization has shared a ‘Return to Work’ playbook to support its employees in their transition back to the office spaces. With mental health taking a toll during this pandemic, employees have also been provided access to professional counselling support through an employee assistance programme.

“We have provided safe transportation for our employees to get to work and our employees have the option to work from any WeWork location pan India, closest to their home,” Shetty said.

In 2021, WeWork will be prioritizing learning and knowledge. Business leaders will facilitate learning circles this year to encourage peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, and members will be provided learning solutions under the ‘Level Up’ initiative.

“We’re also exploring internal talent mobility in a major way via our internal job posting that enables our employees to grow laterally and reach their potential in line with their aspirations,” Shetty said.
